Event Description
You are invited to an evening of mirth and merriment at the 2018 Madrigal Dinner! This biennial performance has been a campus tradition since 1962 and continues to delight and immerse audiences in a world bathed in the light of hundreds of candles and resplendent with brocades, tapestries, and herald flags. Set in Elizabethan England at the turn of the Sixteenth Century, the Madrigal Dinner features a lively Mummers Play, strolling ballad singers, familiar carols, Renaissance instruments, French chansons, English and Italian madrigals, and German part-songs. Audiences are thrilled by the Boar’s Head and Wassail ceremonies and a visit from a very important royal guest. Don’t miss your opportunity to start your Christmas season with a wonderful performance unlike any other!

Performances are Friday, November 30, 2018 at 6:30 pm and Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 6:30 pm in Great Hall on the Simpson College campus and features a Renaissance menu of five courses. Tickets will be available beginning November 8, 2018 and are available in 3 sections, divided by price and location in relation to the stage: A - $50, B - $45, C - $35. To order online, visit simpsonmusic.tix.com. To order by phone, call the Music Office at (515) 961-1637. Orders taken by phone will be assigned “best seat available” in the section of your choosing. Performances are not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
