About Annett Nature Center
Annett Nature Center
Annett Nature Center (ANC), situated at 15565 118th Ave in Indianola, IA, was established in 1997 as an integral part of the 160-acre ANC Park. Perched on a hillside overlooking a six-acre pond and a ten-acre wetland, ANC is adjacent to Lake Ahquabi State Park. With three levels housing interpretive exhibits, a classroom, WCCB administrative offices, and a community room, the center serves as a hub for conservation education programs and a focal point for school field trips and summer nature day camps.
ANC's expansive grounds offer an immersive experience with miles of trails, prairie plantings, a butterfly garden, a wildlife viewing blind, and an observation tower. The center also features a variety of facilities, including a small bird-watching room, a full kitchen, a classroom, and a large deck. In 2013, the Lester Davison Memorial Pavilion was added, providing a versatile outdoor space for private rentals, subject to the WCCB's schedule. Visitors can explore the center's offerings in depth through the Education Page and find information on fees, rules, and availability for planning their visit.
Annett Nature Center invites individuals to join in the celebration of nature's beauty and diversity, encouraging a deeper connection with the environment. Whether through educational programs, scenic trails, or private events at the Lester Davison Memorial Pavilion, ANC offers a gateway to appreciation and understanding of the natural world.
