10/6/2023 | North River Arts Council, Inc. is a non-profit corporation formed to promote art, serve artists, and bring the economic impact of the arts to the communities of Warren County, Iowa, Including Carlisle, Indianola, Norwalk, and beyond. We do that by providing educational opportunities for artists and art lovers, and by creating a place for art to thrive. The NRAC's Inaugural Member Show will feature the work of over 20 local artists. The various talents will include oil and acrylic painting, ink and watercolor, photography, storytelling and more. We will kick things off with a live performance by Leo Bird entitled "Bullying". Margery Davis will entertain with a little story-telling, and the evening will close with Al Kratz reading, "Untied". 10/23/2023 | Head on out to the Annett Nature Center for our Iowa Invaders Halloween Hike. This non-scary hike is educational and fun for the whole family. You will be guided along the trail to meet different characters, including: Canada thistle, zebra mussel, wild parsnip, Asian carp, and an emerald ash borer. After the hike you can make a craft and enjoy some treats. The cost is $5 per person and those under 3 are free. Hikes leave the nature center at 6:30, 6:40, 6:50, 7:00, 7:10, 7:20, and 7:30. **Registration and prepayment are required. Call 515-961-6169 to register. **Please arrive at the Annett Nature Center 5-10 minutes early to get checked in. The hikes leave the nature center at the scheduled times. In order to maintain the schedule throughout the entire night, we will not hold hikes. If you arrive late for your scheduled time, we will do our best to get you into the next open time, however that may be at the end of the night.
