Silent film that is not so silentThe Vivo Chamber Players, the Simpson faculty instrumental ensemble, is accompanying the silent film, The Rink, starring Charlie Chaplin, in recitals on Saturday, Feb. 5th, at 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm. The twenty-five-minute score for the film was composed/arranged by Dr. John Benoit, Professor of Music. The music depicts the action on the screen in a way that words can't.
John assigned twenty-six different instruments to the percussionist, including a police siren, a car horn, etc. If someone doesn't find the film entertaining, he/she can always watch the percussionist sprint from one end of the percussion section to the other!
The performance will take place in Lekberg Hall in the Amy Robertson Music Center on the Simpson College campus. Because audience capacity is capped, audience members need to reserve tickets via Ticket Leap. There is no cost for the tickets.

The Indianola Knights of Columbus have been hosting Lenten Fish Fries for 30 years. For 2022, they are proud to again host 6 Lenten Fish Fries starting on Friday, March 4 and ending on Friday, April 8. All dinners will be at the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Hall. The serving hours are from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Customers can choose to enjoy a comfortable in-hall dining evening or purchase a take-out meal.Saturday, February 12, 2022

The bar will be open for the humans, there will be treats and water for the pups, and a photographer will be on site to capture a special moment between you and your best friend. *extra fees apply for photo
Admission is free and if you bring an item to donate to a local shelter you'll receive $1 off your glass of wine! This is an all ages event, and kids always get in free! This is an indoor event, and you are more than welcome to bring in your own food or snacks. They will have snacks for purchase in the tasting room as well. Just no outside alcohol.
Don’t have a dog to bring? Come anyways and support a local shelter.
Dogs must be current on vaccinations and on a leash at all times. Please clean up after your dog indoors and outdoors. No dog will be allowed to come inside without a leash. There will be a waiver to sign upon entering.
