THIS - Twenty-Four Hours In the Spirit Women's Retreat

THIS is something different.  THIS is Twenty-four Hours In the Spirit–a chance for 24 women in and around Warren County to stop their regular routine for a concentrated chance to focus on God’s word, to refresh, and to enjoy fellowship with other women.

Starting at 11:30am on a Tuesday and wrapping up at 11:30am on a Wednesday, THIS is a volunteer-driven, God-focused, mid-week retreat for women.  While the event is not affiliated with or sponsored from a single church or denomination, members of multiple churches have gathered together to sponsor and lead this event as a ministry to those in our community.

The program includes Lunch and Dinner on the first day, a one-night stay in a brand new hotel in Indianola, Breakfast and Lunch on the second day, four sessions of worship and message, free time, optional activities, and ways to pause, refresh, and reflect on the greatness of God. The message comes from the Scripture. The songs include a blend of traditional hymns, praise songs, and contemporary Christian songs.

If you’re ready to carve off time for 24 hours to refresh and reconnect with God and like-minded women, sign up now!

Log Cabin Days Festival: Warren County Herstory Honoring Women's Struggle for the Right to Vote

Log Cabin Festival

On September 28 and 29, 2019, the Warren County Historical Society will be sponsoring its annual Log Cabin Festival to raise funds to support our museum and research library. The museum has no paid staff so this fun-packed weekend helps support our maintenance and other expenses for the coming year. The theme for 2019 is “Her-Story - Honoring Women's Struggle for the Right to Vote".  2019 is the 100th anniversary of Iowa's ratification of the 19th amendment.

How to Lead From the Heart LIVE Webinar

In this excerpt from our Servant Leadership class, this quick hit webinar gives you three characteristics common to those who lead from the heart, and three tactical, concrete ways to walk the leadership walk, starting right now.

Leading from the heart requires a sometimes-uncomfortable level of transparency, authenticity, and sacrifice, but the reward is unparalleled. Simon Sinek in Leaders Eat Last talks about the importance of courage in leadership – the courage to sacrifice your own interests for the sake of those you lead. But what does that mean? What does that really look like? In this one-hour webinar, we’ll explore an excerpt from one of our Servant Leadership courses, specifically examining the concept of the heart of a servant leader, as demonstrated by the characteristics of empathy, a calling to serve, and positivity, and as manifested in behaviors of a water-carrier to meet the needs of individuals, teams, and the organization.

Objectives

  • – Explore three characteristics common to servant leaders
  • – Gain three tactical ways to demonstrate characteristics of servant leadership where you work
  • – Reflect on your own servant leadership and how you can lead from the heart going forward
