To respond to needs from the recent tragedy; Perry Elks Lodge #407 has invited the community to a Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds to benefit the Perry Schools.
This free will meal will take place on Sunday, January 21st from 11 am to 2 pm at the Perry Lodge at 2823 Willis Ave.
The meal will include spaghetti, red or white sauce, lettuce salad, bread sticks and desserts.
If you cannot make it to Perry on the 21st - please drop up a donation with the bartender in our Club Room and we will send a check on Monday, January 22nd. The treasurer can also email you a Square Invoice if you are away from Indianola at the moment.

When France sold the Louisiana Purchase to the United States in 1803, President Thomas Jefferson tasked Meriweather Lewis with exploring it. In this program, you’ll meet some of the characters who made the two-year journey along with Lewis and William Clark. Presenter Donald Shurr is a trained keelboat pilot and reenactor whose program is funded by Humanities Iowa, a private non-profit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The free program is hosted by Indianola Parks & Recreation and sponsored by Community 1st Credit Union as part of the Afternoon Adventures Series.
Numerous high schools from around the region will bring their jazz bands to Simpson College for two days worth of amazing Jazz Competition! A variety of schools, ranging from 1A to 4A schools will showcase the pieces and solos they've been working on all season.
The Annual Dinner will feature former NFL quarterback Alex Smith as its keynote speaker. Smith played for 16 seasons in the NFL for San Francisco, Kansas City and Washington, and was selected to three Pro Bowls as one of the most outstanding players in the league. He overcame a life-threatening injury to make it back on the field against the odds. In 2018, Smith suffered a serious leg injury that put his life at risk and could have cost him his leg. After 17 surgeries and rehab, he returned to the field during the 2020 season to lead his team to a division title, earning Smith the title of NFL Comeback Player of the Year by the Associated Press, Sporting News and the Pro Football Writers of America. Following his retirement from the NFL, Smith has worked as an analyst on ESPN since 2021.
Off the field, Smith is a dedicated husband, father and philanthropist as he founded The Alex Smith Foundation, which provides foster teens with the tools and resources needed to transition to successful adulthood.
