Simpson College Community Orchestra Concert
The Simpson College Community Orchestra (SCCO) will present its spring concert on Sunday, April 16th, at 7:00 pm in the Blank Performing Arts Center, Simpson College. The hour-long performance is free and open to audience members of all ages; children are welcome. A public reception will follow the concert.
The young -- and young at heart -- members of the audience will enjoy the medley of melodies from The Prince of Egypt, a Disney film. The Prince of Egypt, the concert length of one hour, the promise of cookies after the performance, and the theater seats that allow the audience members to sit above the height of the stage, enabling a view of any musician in the orchestra, all make the concert a good vehicle to introduce children to the joys of an orchestral performance.
Other musical works on the program include the ebullient Les Preludes by Liszt, the lush Prelude from Raymonda by Glazunov, and the meditative Black Swan by Brahms/Bright Sheng.
The SCCO was established in the fall of 2013. This concert marks the completion of the orchestra's tenth full year. Please, come join the musicians in celebrating this milestone.
If you have questions regarding the performance, please call the Simpson Music Office at 515-961-1637.
