Join Dave Baker, founder of "The 29th State" on Tuesday, March 1st from 2:00pm - 3:00pm. He is a storyteller, photographer, essayist and researcher who documents and celebrates Iowa history and heritage. He has photographed over 10,000 sites, landmarks and points of interest around Iowa, visiting nearly all 99 counties and covering 1,200 towns and former village sites - better known as ghost towns.
In this program, we will journey back in time when settlers arrived at Parmalee's Mill. As we roll through the nineteenth century we will see how post offices, railroads and even the Civil War impacted the communities in Warren County. Along the way, we will visit the forgotten communities of yesterday- Greenbush, Conger, Lawrenceburg, Lothrop, Clarkson and more! The program will feature Dave's original photography work along with a variety of facts, maps, and even research tips for finding ancestors who might have lived in these communities.
Sponsored by Community 1st Credit Union. Free & open to the public, no reservations required.
